Lightning Striking

 

Felt your power
When I was placed in enchantment.
I knew you would find me.
And pierce me by lightning
I was left blind.

My heart can’t be silent
When lightning still striking.
Can’t focus my mind.
Loud as the thunder
Will you answer my calling?

 

I wrote this poem while watching a lightning storm from my house when I realized I could only fall in love with a man who was up late watching the same storm. The following winter I would finally meet him and learn he was watching the storm on Hart's Pass.

Drunk Kisses

 

A cold one in the hand
Might cause a girl to giggle
She cannot keep a plan
When underneath its fizzle

Hops upon my tongue
Froth upon my lips
Onto the glass I clung
A reminder of your kiss
